1. About us and these terms

Vietnam Backstreet Tours is the trade name of VBT (VIETNAM BACKSTREET TOURS) TRAVEL JOINT STOCK COMPANY, a travel agency licensed by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (State License of International Tour Operator No. 01-1861/2022/TCDL-GP LHQT). Our details are on the About page.

By sending a booking request, paying for a tour or joining one, you accept these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

2. Our tours

We run half-day and one-day experiences in and around Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Saigon and Ha Long Bay, by vintage Vespa, Minsk motorbike, Russian Jeep, on foot and by boat. Every tour lasts one day at most and does not include an overnight stay.

Tours can be private (just your group) or join-in (shared with other guests), as shown on each tour page. Tailor-Made requests are also one-day tours. Itineraries, stops and timings are a guide; your driver or guide may change them for safety, weather, traffic or local conditions.

3. How booking works

1. You send a booking request on our website (no payment is needed at this step).
2. We check availability and reply by email with confirmation and the final price.
3. We send you a secure payment link. Your booking is confirmed when you have paid the deposit or the full price and received our confirmation email.

You can send a request up to 2 hours before the tour starts, Vietnam time (GMT+7), subject to availability. Sending a request does not guarantee a place. We may decline a request, for example when a date is full.

4. Prices and payment

• Prices are in US dollars (USD), per person, and include taxes. Some tours have different prices on different dates; the price we confirm is the price you pay.
• Guests are counted as adults (12+), children (2–11) and infants (under 2). Child and infant prices are quoted when we reply.
• Deposit: 30% of the price secures your tour. For groups of 7 or more guests (infants included) the deposit is 50%. You are welcome to pay in full instead.
• TBC: when the remaining balance is due.
• We accept PayPal and major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro).
• We can issue a VAT invoice on request: email [email protected] or message us on WhatsApp or Zalo.
• Your bank or payment platform may charge a transaction fee, usually around 5%, which we do not control.

Booking two different tours together may qualify for a discount, which we show in your confirmation.

5. Changes and cancellations

Free date changes and free cancellation are available with enough notice. The details, refund timing and what happens in bad weather are in our Cancellation & Refunds policy, which is part of these terms.

6. What we ask of you

• Be at your pickup place at the time we confirm. Please give an accurate hotel name or address.
• Tell us before the tour about any allergy, medical condition or mobility need, and about guests who are children or older travelers. Food allergies must be notified in writing at least 24 hours before departure so we can plan backup options.
• Follow the instructions of your driver and guide, wear the helmet and protective gear we provide, and stay seated while the vehicle is moving.
• Do not take part if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. We may refuse to carry a guest who is, or who puts others at risk, without a refund TBC: confirm this rule.
• Respect other guests, local people, property and the places we visit.

You ride as a passenger, so no riding experience is needed. TBC: any age, weight or health limits for passengers.

7. Safety and insurance

Our drivers and guides are trained professionals, our team is first-aid certified, and we provide helmets and protective gear for every guest.

We carry local insurance with Bao Viet with coverage of up to 200,000,000 VND per person, depending on the nature of the incident. It covers accidents, but not incidents caused by the guest’s own actions.

Personal travel insurance is not included in the tour price. We recommend you have your own. On request we can arrange optional cover from PTI Thang Long Insurance (about US$3.5 per person per day); please tell us before your tour so the policy is in place before you depart. The insurer’s own terms apply.

8. Weather and events beyond our control

We provide two-piece rain gear and the tour usually goes ahead in light rain. If severe weather or another event we cannot control (for example an official order, flooding or road closure) makes the tour unsafe, we will tell you as early as we can and you can reschedule free of charge or receive a full refund of the tour price, less bank transaction fees. We cannot cover other costs such as flights or hotels.

9. Our responsibility

We will provide our tours with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have by law, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

TBC: legal review of this paragraph Subject to that, our total liability for any claim connected with a tour will not be more than the insurance payout amount and the tour price you paid. We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not a foreseeable result of our failure, for your own actions, or for services we do not provide, such as flights and hotels.

10. Satisfaction and complaints

If you are not happy with the experience, please tell your guide or call us during the tour so we can put it right straight away. Our satisfaction guarantee: if you are not happy with the experience, you do not pay TBC: how a guest claims this, and any limits.

If you have a complaint afterwards, write to [email protected] with your booking details. We will look into it and reply soon.

11. Photos, videos and your content

If you send us photos or videos, for example through our UGC program, you keep ownership of your content. You allow us to share it on our official channels with credit to you, on the terms explained in our FAQs. TBC: rules for photos and videos our guides take of guests during tours.

12. Using this website

The text, photos, logos and design on this website belong to Vietnam Backstreet Tours or are used with permission. You may view and share pages for personal use, but please do not copy or sell our content, or use the site in a way that harms it or other users. We try to keep the information accurate, but prices, availability and schedules can change; the details in your confirmation email apply.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The terms in force on the day you send your booking request apply to that booking.

14. Governing law

TBC: legal review — governing law and where disputes are settled; usually the law of Vietnam and the courts of Hanoi, without limiting the rights you have under the law of your own country.
